Description
Core Survival HEL-STAR Gen III 640 Series Multi-Function Helmet Marker Light
The Core Survival HEL-STAR 640 Series is a compact, helmet-mounted multi-function marker light designed for military, airborne, MFF, tactical, and identification applications. The 640 Series combines visible and infrared signaling functions in a single housing, with multiple factory-programmed output configurations available in this listing.
Each HEL-STAR 640 provides four selectable functions arranged across two operating modes. A detented switch at the front of the unit changes between Mode A and Mode B, while the rear function/power switch selects between the two functions within each mode. The switches move in different directions, allowing the user to distinguish them by feel without looking directly at the light.
Depending on the selected variant, available outputs may include green, white, red, blue, and infrared signals in steady, flashing, dim, bright, or combined configurations. Choose the required function set from the available options before ordering.
Visible and Infrared Signaling
The HEL-STAR 640 Series is designed as a full-spectrum signaling platform. Factory configurations can combine overt visible identification with infrared output for use with compatible night-vision equipment.
Different versions are programmed for different signaling requirements, so the four functions are not identical across every HEL-STAR 640. The selected variant determines the A1, A2, B1, and B2 outputs available on that unit.
640 Series Mode Control
The 640 Series uses a detented nose switch that allows the operator to change between Mode A and Mode B in the field. This differs from the HEL-STAR 620 Series, which uses a locking clip arrangement intended to restrict access between function groups.
The rear switch controls power and function selection within the active mode, providing four total selectable functions across the two-mode layout.
Helmet-Mounted Construction
The HEL-STAR platform was developed as a helmet-mounted identification and signaling light with broad visibility from multiple viewing angles. Its compact housing keeps the marker close to the helmet rather than using a projecting beacon or external lamp assembly.
The housing is designed for field exposure and is rated waterproof to 130 feet of seawater.
Long-Range Visual Identification
Core Survival states that independent testing confirmed HEL-STAR 6 performance beyond the FAA 3-statute-mile visibility requirement. Actual visibility depends on the selected output mode, atmospheric conditions, viewing angle, and surrounding light.
